What I take away from tonight's show is "it's complex"!
I'd like to see us shift from making this an issue to be "debated", to it being an issue to be "deliberated".
I think it would be helpful for us to be expansive rather than reductionist.
This issue seems to stagnate upon the question "climate change - is it caused by humans or is it part of the cosmic order of things?"
I agree with the Yale man - can we have constructive discussions?
Can we reflect on our planet, and our ways, and where things might go in the future. What is the effect going to be when India, China and the majority world (that's the third world) moves towards Westernised standards of living (cars, houses with lighting and 3 plasma screen TVs in every house).
When we view things not just from the perspective of our own countries, but from a global perspective, I think we need to see this as Anna suggested "as a moral issue". We in western countries need to move to lower carbon ways, to enable people in countries that currently experience extreme poverty to move to a reasonable standard of living.
